Transportation Options at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

The Monorail at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

When you’re staying at Disney’s Contemporary Resort you might wonder what transportation options are available – other than the Monorail which will only get you so far.

If you’re planning on visiting the Magic Kingdom you have two choices – you can walk or you can take the Monorail. The walk is brief and it’s a nice way to get your legs warmed up for a day in the park. If you’re taking the Monorail you can hop on the Resort Monorail or the Express Monorail – both will get you to the Magic Kingdom. Walking back to the Contemporary at night is probably faster than waiting on a Monorail.

If you’re headed to Epcot you can take the Monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center and then switch trains to the Monorail for Epcot. You can also hop on a Disney Parks bus headed to Epcot.

For Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom you’ll need to take a Disney Parks bus.

The Contemporary also has a boat that travels from the resort to the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness. To travel to Disney’s Polynesian Village or the Grand Floridian you can hop on the Resort Monorail. To visit any other resorts it’s best to travel to the theme park closest to that resort and then switch buses to a resort-bound bus. Be warned – that could take up to an hour or longer.
