Disney’s Bay Lake Tower Villas are the newest addition to the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) timeshare program.
Located next to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Bay Lake Tower guests have access to the same amenities (plus an extra pool–Bay Cove) as Contemporary Resort guests, including the walkway to the Magic Kingdom, monorail access, dining, and recreation options. NOTE: Access to the Sky Way bridge connecting the Contemporary to Bay Lake Tower is accessible only with a Bay Lake Tower room key.
Bay Lake Tower guests will also be able to enjoy another pool–Bay Lake Cove–and it’s accompanying pool bar: Cove Bar. Additionally, guests will be able to take advantage of the Top of the World Lounge (the name giving props to the Contemporary’s original restaurant), which will be perfect for viewing the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom!
As August 20th, 2012 the Bay Lake Tower lobby desk will be open and staffed from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. to facilitate check in for guests who are arriving my car or taxi.
BOOKING
Bay Lake Tower villas are available for booking now, and are scheduled to officially open in August 2009. Villas can be booked by DVC members through the DVC reservations system, and by non-members through the regular Disney reservations system (407-WDISNEY). Only a small number of villas are held for non-member bookings, so book early if you can. Room rates will begin at $375/night during value season.
VILLA TYPES
Bay Lake Tower, like other DVC resorts, offers several types of rooms:
Studio: Studios, sized at a bit over 300 sq ft, offer a queen-sized bed, a full-size pull out sofa bed, a flat-screen TV and DVD player, and a full bathroom. Studios also have a small kitchenette space, including a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffeemaker. Disney provides paper plates, plastic utensils, and some basic cooking utensils. All studios have a private balcony or patio and can sleep up to four.
Interestingly, the kitchenette and bathroom vanity are directly opposite each other–situated so that you could be brushing your teeth at the vanity and pouring your coffee at the kitchen counter at the same time! This is a different set-up than you’ll find in other DVC properties; we’re interested to see how guests like it.
One-bedroom Villa: One-bedroom Villas, sized at around 1100 sq ft, sleep up to five. The Villa offers a master bedroom suite with king-sized bed and connecting bathroom with a whirlpool tub; a queen-sized sofa bed; and a sleeper chair in the living room. There is also a second full bathroom off the living area. The living area and master bedroom both have flat-screen TVs, and the living area has a DVD player.
A corner kitchen area includes a stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, and toaster. It also provides dishes, glasses, flatware, and pots and pans. There is an island-like eating area in the kitchen.
The Villa also provides a laundry area containing a stacked washer/dryer, and a private balcony or patio.
Dedicated Two-bedroom Villa: This villa sleeps up to nine people, and is called a “Dedicated” villa because it is not made up of two separate villas with a connecting door (see below).
The villa includes a master bedroom suite with king-sized bed and connecting bathroom with whirlpool tub, a second bedroom with two queen-sized beds and separate bathroom, and a queen-size pull out sofa bed and a sleeper chair in the living room. There is a third bathroom off of the living space.
All bedrooms have flat-panel TVs, and the living space has a DVD player.
Like the one-bedroom, this villa has a full kitchen, including dishes, glasses, flatware, and pots and pans. It also includes the stove, toaster, refrigerator, coffeemaker, microwave, and dishwasher.
The villa also includes a stacked washer/dryer and a private balcony or patio.
Two-bedroom Lockoff Villa: This villa sleeps up to nine people, and is a combination of a studio and a one-bedroom villa, with a connecting door between them.
The villa includes the master bedroom, with king-sized bed and connected full bathroom with whirlpool tub. The second bedroom (the studio) includes a queen-sized bed and one full-size pull out sofa bed. The living space includes one queen-size sofa bed and a sleeper chair.
The master bedroom, living space, and second bedroom have flat-panel TVs; the living space has a DVD player.
Again, the kitchen includes all necessities, including dishes, glasses, flatware, pots and pans, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, stove, fridge, and dishwasher. There is a stacked washer/dryer in the villa as well. All villas have a private balcony or patio.
Two-Story Grand Villa: The Grand Villa sleeps up to 12. It offers a master bedroom with king-sized bed and connecting bathroom with whirlpool tub; two additional bedrooms, each with two queen-sized beds; a queen-size sofa bed in the living room; and a full-size sofa bed in the upstairs sitting area. There are four full bathrooms, one each off of the bedrooms, and one off of the living space downstairs.
As with the other villas, there are flat-panel TVs in all bedrooms and living spaces, and a DVD player in the living room. Again, the full kitchen includes all necessities: coffeemaker and microwave; dishes, glasses, flatware, and pots and pans; toaster, stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. The stacked washer/dryer is in the laundry area, and the villa provides a private balcony.
