Seven Seas Lagoon Monorail Crawl

Lapu Lapu at Tambu Lounge

One of the advantages of staying at the Contemporary Resort is its great location. It’s just steps away from the Magic Kingdom, and with the Monorail making its way through the building, it’s super easy to visit the other two resorts situated around the Seven Seas Lagoon.

So why not make a fun adult trip out of it? Start your own tradition of the Seven Seas Lagoon Monorail Crawl! Here’s how to make it happen.

First, plan on doing the Seven Seas Lagoon Monorail Crawl with friends! It’s fun if you have a large group. If you’re traveling with children, get a sitter for a few hours while the adults have some fun – it will be so worth it! But don’t start the Crawl too late in the day, as the bars at Walt Disney World resorts aren’t open into the wee hours – it’s best to do the Monorail Crawl in the evening after dinner – or as a dinner replacement, ha!

Now, make your way to the 4th floor of the Contemporary and have your group meet up at the Outer Rim Lounge. To go with the theme, try something a little Space age-y – maybe a Blue “Glow-tini,” or a Magical Star Cocktail? Or you could try one of their several beers on tap. You might want to order some chicken wings or nachos for your group to share. Click here for more info and photos of the Outer Rim Lounge. Hours are 4:30-10:30 p.m., subject to change.

Your next stop will be a fun one for sure – the Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian Resort outside the Ohana restaurant. Here you should indulge in a truly classic Polynesian drink – the Lapu Lapu! I’ve been told Lapu Lapu means “knocks you flat” in Hawaii’s native language. Not really, but it should, with its blend of pineapple juice, orange juice, and rum and Bacardi 151 served in a real pineapple! If the Lapu Lapu is not your speed, try a Malibu Macaw, or Island Sunset. Try to time your visit to the Tambu lounge to see Wishes from the large windows overlooking the Magic Kingdom, or grab your drinks and head down to the beach to watch the Electric Water Pageant. Hours are 1 p.m.-12 a.m., subject to change.

Now, get on the Monorail and head toward the swank Grand Floridian Resort. Raise your pinky in the air as you settle in at the Mizner Lounge on the 2nd floor of the lobby area. Find a group of seats overlooking the Grand Floridian gardens, or plop your group down closet to the lobby orchestra playing jazz and classical favorites. They’re even known to play some classic Disney favorites. Admire the carved marble bar and order up a glass of wine, or perhaps indulge in a vintage port or brandy. Hours are 5 p.m.-12 a.m., subject to change.

Finally, you can hop back on the Monorail, cruise past the Magic Kingdom, and back to the Contemporary. Top it off with a final drink at the Outer Rim Lounge, or call it a night, because you’ve just completed the Seven Seas Lagoon Monorail Crawl!
